A member of the United States track and field team at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics, Politzer competed in the long jump but did not qualify for the finals.

Career Highlights:
Politzer, who competed in the early 1920s, won the Eastern Olympic tryouts in 1920 as a member of the Mohawk Athletic Club. The following year, as an unattached athlete (he was not a member of any athletic club), Hugo finished third in the long jump at the New York Metropolitan AAU track and field championships.
