At the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Cohen was a member of the Israeli soccer team that reached the quarterfinals and finished fifth. A midfielder, Avraham played in two preliminary games, substituting in a 0-0 draw with Guatemala and starting in a 1-1 draw with France. He did not play in Israel's 2-2 draw with Mexico. The Israeli team finished second in the group to France with 3 points and advanced to the quarterfinals. Cohen then started in the midfield in the quarterfinal match against powerhouse Brazil, who defeated Israel 4-1.
Cohen was a member of the Israeli National team in the 1970s.
