Nimni was a member of the Israeli team that reached the quarterfinals and finished fifth at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. A defender and midfielder, he started in all three preliminary games as Israel drew with Guatemala, 0-0 (he played in the midfield); Mexico, 2-2 (midfield); and France 1-1 (defense). The Israeli team finished second in the group to France with 3 points and advanced to the quarterfinals. Nimni then started on defense in the quarterfinal match against powerhouse Brazil, who defeated Israel 4-1.
Nimni was a member of the Israeli National team in the 1970s.
