Papirov competed in two events as a member of the Israeli shooting team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. In the small-bore rifle competition, he finished 21st with 1,165 points (13 points behind the winner). Papirov also competed in the air rifle event and finished tied for 34th place with 581 points.
Papirov has been one of Israel's top shooters for over a decade. At the 2001 European Championships, he finished 38th in the 50-meter free rifle event with 590 points.
