Wolfe, Red

George Wolfe

Wolfe played basketball at St. John's University in the 1920s, and then played professionally in the American Basketball League with the Philadelphia Sphas (the nickname stood for the South Philadelphia Hebrew Association).

Career Highlights:
In the late 1920s, Wolfe was a star at St. John's. In 1928, he led them to a terrific 18-4 record. After college, Red had a 15-year career for the Philadelphia Sphas and then compiled a 27-8 record coaching Long Island University from 1944-45.
