Kaplan enjoyed a terrific college career at Rutgers in the early 1970s. He helped lead the Scarlet Knights to records of 13-11 (1970), 16-7 (1971), and 14-11 (1972). Steve ranks 10th all-time in Rutgers history with a 16.4 career scoring average, 31st in career rebounds (470), 17th in free throws made (278), and 2nd in career free throw percentage (.888). Following his college career, Kaplan played professionally in Israel for Hapoel Ramat-Gan in the mid-1970s.
