In the individual competition, Foldes advanced to the semifinals, after finishing in the top two in his first- and second-round pools. He finished fourth in the semis and was eliminated from the competition (he officially finished in 10th place).

Foldes returned to the Olympics four years later at the 1912 Stockholm Games and again won a gold medal as a member of Hungary's sabre team. In the individual sabre competition, Foldes advanced to the final pool, and finished in eighth place overall. He also competed in the individual foil event and reached the third round before being eliminated. Among his teammates on Hungary's sabre team at both the 1908 and 1912 Olympics were Jeno Fuchs, Oszkar Gerde, and Lajos Werkner.
