Bergen was a member of the Soviet Union's volleyball team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. During the competition, the Soviets defeated South Korea (3-1), Cuba (3-1), and East Germany in their preliminary group to advance to the semifinals. They then defeated Hungary (3-0) to reach the final match, where they lost in straight sets to Japan (7-15, 8-15, 2-15) and were awarded the silver medal. One of Bergen's teammates was Natalia Kushnir.

Career Highlights:
Bergen played on the Soviet Union's women's volleyball team in the 1970s and helped them win the gold medal at the European Championships in 1971 and 1975.
