Vered suffered a disappointing 100-meter Butterfly performance in the 2004 Athens Olympics. She swam in the 100-meter Butterfly third heat, on August 14th. Borochovsky was eighth in her heat with a time of 1:00.69. The swimmer finished 26 out of 38 contestants, while only the top 16 qualified for the semi-finals. Borochovsky also competed in the 200-meter medley event. On August 16, the Israeli swam in heat 1 of the event. Vered won her heat with a time of 2:20.69. In Israel Borochovsky is considered something of an ice-queen. This has always infuriated her and she claims that "without my passion I would never have made it to the top."
