Jablonka was a member of the Israeli track and field team at the 2000 Sydney Games, and competed in two events. He finished in fifth place (33rd overall) in his preliminary heat of the 200-meter (20.92), but did not advance to the quarterfinals (he missed advancing by 0.001 seconds). He was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team which placed sixth in its preliminary heat (26th overall) in 39.76 and did not advance to the semifinals.

Career Highlights:
A sprinter whose personal best in the 100-meter is 10.29, and in the 200-meter is 20.89, Gidon was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team (38.81) which finished ninth at the 1999 World Athletic Championships. That year, he also competed at the European Under-23 Championship, but did not qualify for the finals of the either the 100-meter or 200-meter. The previous year, Gidon finished second in the 100-meter (10.5) at the 1998 Israel Championships.

In 2000, Gidon won his first Israeli National championship in the 200-meter, tying the Israeli record with a time of 20.89 (he tied Tommy Kafri). In 2001, Gidon won his first Israel National Championship in the 100-meter and defended his 200-meter crown. At the Maccabiah Games, he captured the gold medal in the 200-meter competition.

In 2002, Jablonka continued to demonstrate his dominance in Israeli sprints, repeating as the 100-meter champion and capturing his third consecutive 200-meter title. At the European Championships, he ran a 10.74 seconds in the 100-meter preliminaries, but did not advance to the quarterfinals. He also did not advance past the prelims in the 200-meter as he ran a 21.26 seconds. In the 4x100-meter relay, Jablonka and his teammates did not finish the race in the preliminaries.
