A member of the United States wrestling team at the 1920 Antwerp Olympic Games, Meyer won the bronze medal in the heavyweight division (freestyle).

Career Highlights:
Meyer began wrestling at the Chicago Hebrew Institute (later known as the Jewish People's Institute) and at a 1918 tournament, won two weight classes, the last time that phenomenon occurred in American amateur wrestling. Meyer was the U.S. National Champion in the heavyweight division in 1921 and 1922 before turning professional in 1923. He competed for over twenty years.
