At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, Isaacs represented the South African boxing team in the bantamweight class. After defeating Fahrenholz of Denmark in his first bout, and Glkinna of Canada in the second round, Harry reached the semifinals. In his semifinal bout, Isaacs was initially ruled to have beaten American John Daley. After the Americans stormed the judges' tables though, Daley was declared the victor and moved onto the gold medal match. He lost the bout and was awarded the silver. Isaacs won the third place bout over Traynor of France to capture the bronze medal.
