Olympic Info:
A three-time member of the Soviet Union's Olympic water polo team, Goikhman won two medals during his Olympic career. At the 1952 Helsinki Games, the Soviets reached the quarterfinals after beating Hungary (5-3), Egypt (3-2), Germany (3-2), and Yugoslavia (3-2) in the preliminary tournament (they also lost to the Netherlands, 3-2). In the final draw of the tournament, the Soviets again lost to the Netherlands (4-2), but defeated Spain (4-3) before tying Belgium, 3-3; they officially finished in seventh place.

Goikhman returned to Olympic competition at the 1956 Melbourne Games and helped the Soviets capture their first medal in water polo. Despite losing their first match to Yugoslavia (5-2), they defeated Australia (3-0), Italy (3-2), and the United States (3-1) to advance to the final round. In the third place game, Goikhman and the Soviets defeated Germany, 6-4, to win the bronze medal.

Goikhman made his final appearance at the Olympics in 1960 in Rome. After defeating Argentina (7-4), and Brazil (8-1) in the preliminary round, the Soviets defeated Romania (3-2), Hungary (3-2), and Yugoslavia (4-3) to capture the silver medal (Italy won the gold medal on goal-differential).
