Blass was a member of Brazil's men's basketball team at the 1960 Olympics. In the preliminary round, the Brazilians defeated Peru (75-72), the Soviet Union (58-54), and Mexico (80-72 in overtime). They won their group and became one of four teams (Brazil, Italy, the United States, and the Soviet Union) to advance to the round-robin final round. After defeating Italy in overtime (78-75) in their first game, Blass and Brazil lost to the Soviets, 64-62, and to the U.S., 90-63, in the final two games. Brazil finished the tournament with an overall record of 6-2 and won the bronze medal (the U.S. went undefeated and won the gold-medal, while the Soviets captured the silver).
