Barak was a member of the U.S. gymnastics team that placed seventh in the team combined exercise competition at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He also finished 39th in the individual all-around competition.

Career Highlights:
In 1964, Barak (a student at the University of Southern California), was the NCAA Champion in the all-around competition, the horizontal bars, and the parallel bars. That year he also won the National AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) Championship in the horizontal bars. In 1961, while a freshman at USC, he won eight gold medals, one silver, and one bronze at the Maccabiah Games as the sole American gymnast at the competition.
