Olympic Info:
Abrahams, the older brother of famed Olympian Harold Abrahams, participated in two Olympiads for Great Britain. At the 1906 "Intercalated Games," held in Athens to renew interest in the Olympic Games, Sidney finished fifth in the long jump (6.21 meters or 20'1-1/4"). Although considered "unofficial," the Games attracted 900 athletes from 20 countries.

Six years later, Abrahams competed in the long jump at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics and finished in eleventh place with a jump of 6.72 meters (just shy of 22-feet).

Career Highlights:
Abrahams, who was later knighted, competed for Cambridge from 1904-1906. After serving as Chief Justice of Ceylon from 1936-1939, Abrahams was elected president of Britain's oldest athletic club, the London Athletic Club founded in 1863. Abrahams was the first Jew to hold the post.
