A lieutenant in the United States Army, Simon competed in two shooting events at the 1908 London Olympics and won one medal. In the 1,000-yard individual competition, Harry finished tied for 19th place with 86 total points (the bronze medalist had 92 points). In the 300-meter individual event, he finished in second place with a total of 887 points (the gold medalist had 909 points). Awarded the silver medal, Simon outdistanced the competition in the prone position when he received 365 points (25 more points than any other shooter). He also totaled 228 points in the standing position and 294 in the kneeling position (all were out of a possible 400 points).
