A member of the British sailing team at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, Jaffe teamed with Colin Ratney and participated in the International Star competition (the Star class is no longer an Olympic event). In their yacht, Joy, they finished Race 1 in second place with a time of 2:43.42. Over the next six races, Jaffe and Ratney remained among the leaders, never finishing lower than fourth and winning Race 6. At the end of the competition, they had captured the silver medal with 35 total points, 11 behind the gold medal-winning U.S. team (and 7 ahead of Sweden and the bronze).
