A member of Hungary's water polo team at the 1952 Helsinki Games, Antal was a teammate of Deszo Gyarmati and Gyorgy Karpati. During the preliminary tournament, the Hungarians defeated Mexico (13-4), Egypt (9-0), Germany (9-1), and Italy (7-2), while tying the Netherlands (4-4), and Yugoslavia (2-2). Their only defeat came at the hands of the Soviet Union by a score of 5-3, but the Hungarians won the gold medal after defeating the United States in the semifinals, 4-0, and then beating Yugoslavia in the final, 2-0.
