Jaeger was chosen for the United States race walking team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but boycotted the Games in protest of the Nazi government.

Career Highlights:
One of the top walkers in the country in the 1930s, Jaeger competed for the 92nd St. YMHA in New York City. The New York Metropolitan indoor champion in the one-mile walk in 1936, 1937, 1939, and 1940, he also won the National AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) indoor 1500-meter championship in 1937.
