At the 1968 Mexico City Games Heldman won a medal in all three events she entered. She won a gold in mixed doubles, a silver in women's doubles, and took the bronze in women's singles.

Career Highlights:
One of the world's top players in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Heldman was one of nine top-ranked tennis stars who founded the Virginia Slims Tour, the first women's professional tennis tour. Heldman was a member of the U.S. Federation Cup teams in 1966 and 1969, and 1974, she was also a semi-finalist at the 1974 U.S. Open, the 1970 French Open, and the 1974 Australian Open. She is a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
