Weinberg, a wrestling coach, was killed by Arab terrorists at the 1972 Munich Games. One of the first Israelis killed by the terrorists, he was only 33 years old. The terrorists knocked on Weinberg's door, and when he opened it, he realized something was wrong and shouted a warning. Weinberg and weightlifter Joseph Romano tried to block the door to allow the other Israelis time to escape, but both men were killed by the terrorists. Weinberg had been married ten months prior to his death, and arrived in Munich following the circumcision of his son.

Career Highlights:
Weinberg was one of Israel's top wrestlers and wrestling coaches; he had competed for Hapoel Haifa and coached Hapoel Tel Aviv. He won eight National titles in Greco-Roman wrestling (in the middleweight division), and the gold medal at the 1965 Maccabiah Games.
