A member of the Israel's track and field team at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics (the first in which Israel participated), Tabak competed in two sprint events. In the 100-meter, he won his first-round heat with a time of 10.9, and then equaled that time in his second-round heat, but did not advance to the finals because he finished sixth. In the 200-meter, Tabak again won his first heat with a time of 22.4, but did not advance past the second round after finishing fifth with a time of 21.8.
