At the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Oz was a member of the Israeli soccer team that reached the quarterfinals and finished fifth. Yaron was a starting midfielder in two of Israel's three preliminary games; against Guatemala in a 0-0 draw, and against Mexico in a 2-2 draw (he scored Israel's first goal in the match). Israel also played France to a 1-1 draw; they finished second in the group to France with 3 points and advanced to the quarterfinals. Oz started in the midfield and played the entire game in the quarterfinal match against Brazil, who defeated Israel 4-1.
