Groumi was a member of the Israeli swimming team at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, competing in the 200-meter backstroke. He did not advance past the first round of the competition.

Career Highlights:
At the 1989 Maccabiah Games, Eran broke the Israeli record in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:04.80. In 1992, he won an international competition in the 200-meter backstroke, tying his own Israeli record of 57.39, and qualifying him for the 1992 Olympic Games. At the 1997 European Championships, Eran set the Israeli record in 50-meter butterfly (25.13), and the 100-meter butterfly (54.48). In 1999, Groumi competed in the 50-meter and 100-meter butterfly events; in 2000, he finished third in both events at the Israeli Winter Swimming Championships.
