Olympic Info:
A member of Israel's track and field team at two Olympiads, Kushnir was the country's top long jumper in the 1950s. At the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, Kushnir jumped a distance of 6.89-meters, but did not qualify for the finals, finishing 26th overall. He returned to the Olympics four years later at the 1960 Rome Games, and finished 29th in the long jump (7.20-meters).

Career Highlights:
Kushnir, who held three Israeli records (broad jump, triple jump, and decathlon), won the gold medal in the broad jump at the 1953 and 1957 Maccabiah Games. He also coached the Israeli national track and field team from 1970-1982. At the 1978 World Veterans Championship (age 40-45), Kushnir won the broad jump. His long jump of 24'4 1/2" in 1961 is still the eighth best individual result in Israeli history.
