Fein was a member of the Austrian weightlifting team at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, competing in the lightweight division. He tied Anwar Mesbah of Egypt for first (342.5 kg), and won the gold medal .

Career Highlights:
A lightweight, Fein was one of the most successful weightlifters in the world in the 1930s. He was the European Champion in 1929 and 1934 (tying for the gold medal that year), and captured the silver medal in 1935 and the bronze in 1930. The year after his Olympic triumph, Fein took the silver medal at the World Championships.
