A midfielder, Karp was on the Australian women's soccer team at the 2004 Athens Olympics, which reached the quarterfinals but remained an unused substitute throughout the competition. Karp was on the bench in Australia's first round game against Brazil in Group G. Brazil won 1:0 from Marta's 36th minute goal. Tal did not play in Australia's second match in Group G against the Greek hosts. Australia won 1-0 thanks to Heather Garriock's 27th minute strike. On August 17th, the Aussies played favorites the U.S.A, and found themselves a goal down in halftime. However an 82nd minute Joanne Peters equalizer helped Australia to a surprising 1-1 draw. Australia lost 2-1 to Sweden in the quarterfinals and was eliminated from the competition.

Career Highlights:
Born in Perth, Karp began playing on boys' teams at an early age when her brother's team did not have enough players. She played in top boys leagues until the age of 17. Karp joined the Australian National team in 2002 and since then has played in 23 games, with 20 starts, and 2 goals (both in 2003). She played in the 2003 World Cup and started all three games as Australia finished in 13th place.
