Tufts, Bob

Robert Malcolm Tufts

Tufts, a lefty reliever who converted to Judaism, pitched in 27 games in the early 1980s for the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals. He is currently the head of the New York chapter of baseball alumni.

Career Highlights:
Tufts began his major league career in 1981 with the San Francisco Giants. That year, the southpaw appeared in 11 games in relief, and had a workmanlike 3.52 ERA. The following year, Tufts was traded with Vida Blue to the Kansas City Royals. Bob remained with the team for two seasons. He pitched in 16 games for the Royals, going 2-0, with both victories coming in relief. The Royals traded Tufts to the Cincinnati Reds for Charlie Leibrandt after the 1982 season, but Bob never pitched another game.
