Birth and Death Dates:

Career Highlights:
An excellent scorer for Cornell in the mid-1930s, Freed was a three-year varsity player at guard and forward for the Big Red. In 1934, he made his varsity debut as a guard and finished second on the team in scoring with 96 points in 12 conference games (he was sixth in the Ivy League in scoring). Cornell finished second in the conference with a 9-3 record (11-5 overall) and Freed was named All-Ivy League honorable mention.

The following year, Freed returned to the starting five and had an even better season, leading the team in scoring with 102 points in 12 games (third in conference). He was named first team All-Ivy League despite Cornell's sixth place finish in conference play with a 3-9 record (5-15 overall).

Freed's final year came in 1936, although he did not play the entire conference season for the Big Red. Cornell finished the year with a 3-9 Ivy League mark, sixth overall, but Freed played in only half the games. As a senior, he played forward and scored 50 points in the six games in which he participated (it is not clear why he only played in six games). His point total placed him 25th in the Ivy League and fourth on the team, but his 8.3 points per game ranked among the top in the conference.
