Cohen, Julie

Cohen helped lead the University of Miami (Florida) to the school's first-ever postseason appearance. He was a senior in 1962, when a brash freshman from New Jersey named Rick Barry arrived on campus. Cohen said of the future Hall-of-Famer, "Rick was quite immature as a freshman...He was younger even than the other guys, a little behind in both physical and mental development. But you knew there was a lot of talent there." Cohen and his teammates helped nuture the "red-shirted" Barry during his season of ineligibility (in the 1960s, freshmen had to sit out one season), and Barry went on to become one of the game's greatest players.
