Schlesinger played basketball at the University of Maryland in the late 1970s. She then played in the WBL (Women's Basketball League) with the Washington Metros and the New England Gulls from 1979-1981. Lisa is a member of the Washington, D.C. Jewish Sports Hall of Fame,

Career Highlights:
A four-year letter-winner at the University of Maryland (where she was a teammate of Hall of Famer Tara Heiss), Schlesinger was a good role player for the Terrapins in the 1970s. She helped the team win the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) championship in 1978 and 1979, and during her senior season (1979), she finished third on the team in assists with 71.

After graduating in 1979, Schlesinger played in the Women's Basketball League for two seasons, first with the Washington Metros and then for the New England Gulls. After her basketball career, Lisa became one of the top amateur golfers in Maryland. In 2002, she finished 55th in the Eastern Golf Association Championship.
