Laine Tina Selwyn

An All-Big East third team selection in 2002-03, Selwyn was a senior point guard for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers, the school's women's basketball team. One of the greatest players in Pitt's history, Laine is the only player in school history to register 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 400 assists. On April 6, 2003, she was honored by the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (in Commack, New York) as the Marty Glickman Outstanding Jewish Scholastic Athlete of the Year.

The Panthers, who finished eleventh in the Big East and lost in the first round of the conference tournament to Notre Dame, finished the 2002-03 season with a 12-16 record. Despite the team's struggles, however, Selwyn was one of the best players in the conference. She led the team in points (16.5 per game), rebounding (6.2), assists (5.9 ) and steals (3.0). She has also made 132-161 free throws on the year and her 82.0% free throw percentage was among the best the Big East.

Early in the 2002-03 season, Selwyn was named Big East Player of the Week after she posted a double-double with 26 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in Pitt's 92-88 overtime victory against then-No. 11 Penn State. She added five assists, three steals and made 12-13 free throws, including a pair of them with only one second remaining in regulation. Her shots tied the game and sent it into overtime. Three weeks later, Selwyn was again named Big East Player of the Week after she registered her second career triple-double (11 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds -- with three steals) in a 104-78 win over Norfolk State.

Selwyn finished her career at Pitt as one of the greatest players in school history. She is ranked in the top ten all-time in points (1,344 -- ninth), steals (232 -- third), and assists (530 -- fourth). She is also the only player to finish with 1,000 points, 400 rebounds, and 400 assists.
