Career Highlights:
A bantamweight in the late 1930s and early 1940s, Goldberg defeated former world featherweight champion Joey Archibald in a 10-round decision in July 1942 (Archibald had lost his title only ten months earlier). This victory, along with a decision over contender Tony Olivera in April 1943, allowed Goldberg to faced world bantamweight champion Manuel Ortiz in a title bout in November 1943. The two fighters had previously faced each other three times in 1938, with Goldberg winning twice (including Ortiz's first professional fight in February 1938). In the title fight, however, Ortiz retained the crown with a 15-round decision. It was Goldberg's only title shot and he soon retired.
