Julius Kogon

A lightweight in the late 1930s and 1940s, Kogon fought some of the best boxers of his era, including Bob Montgomery, Willie Pep, and Ike Williams.

Career Highlights:
After beginning his professional career in 1937, Kogon fought anyone who would get in the ring with him. In 1939, he knocked out Jimmy Murray, who outweighed Kogon by seven pounds. Two years later, Kogon fought future world champion Bob Montgomery twice, but lost both bouts on decisions; they fought a third match in 1947 and again Kogon lost the decision. In 1944, he fought two Hall of Famers, Willie Pep and Ike Williams, losing decisions to both. Kogon fought until 1949, but never got a title shot; he won 74 of 124 career decisions.
