Lustig began his professional career in 1911 and two years later, he fought the great Benny Leonard; the six-round bout ended in a no decision. Lustig fought until 1915 and never lost a fight (he had 64 no decisions). During his career, he also had no decision bouts with Johnny Dundee in March 1914, lightweight champion Freddie Welsh in March 1915 and June 1915 (both non-title bouts), and the great English fighter Ted "Kid" Lewis in April 1915.
