Birth and Death Dates:
b. May 14, 1901 - d. February 1979

Career Highlights:
Rosenberg, who was never knocked out in his career, turned professional in 1919 after winning the New York State and National AAU welterweight championships. Two years later, he fought middleweight contender and Hall of Famer Mike Gibbons, but lost the 12-round decision. In 1922, the New York State Athletic Commission stripped middleweight champion Johnny Wilson of his title because he refused to heed an edict to defend his crown in New York. The Commission then recognized Rosenberg as the champion when he defeated Phil Krug in a 15-round decision on August 14. Only three months later though, Dave lost the title to Mike O'Dowd when he was disqualified in the 8th-round for a low blow. Dave continued to fight for another five years, but did not receive another title shot. He retired in 1927 with 39 wins in 52 career decisions.
