Career Highlights:
Pomerantz, who was from the Lower East Side in New York, began boxing as a result of his association with the Jewish Community House in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. 1935 proved to be a big year for Pomerantz, who won the Jewish Olympics while representing the JCH. As a result, he was supposed to go to Tel Aviv for the second Maccabiah Games, but unfortunately, he never went.That same year, he won the lightweight championship of the New York Golden Gloves, and then turned professional in the same weight class. Pomerantz fought professionally until 1937 and won 24 of 30 career decisions.
