Career Highlights:
A flyweight, Gold began his career in the 1920s and fought Newsboy Brown in November 1924; the bout was a 10-round no decision. The following year, he lost to Hall of Famer, and future bantamweight champ, Panama Al Brown in a 10-round decision.

In 1927, the flyweight division was thrown up for grabs when champ Fidel LaBarba retired and vacated the title. No undisputed fighter could be agreed upon to be the new champion and the title was split into three versions. During this time, Gold fought contenders and challengers alike, but never received a title shot himself. He lost to Frankie Genaro in 1927 and Frenchy Belanger in 1928 (after Genaro defeated Belanger for the NBA version), but defeated Belanger in a rematch in 1930.

In the early 1930s, Gold also split decisions with top contender Black Bill and lost two bouts to New York State Commission champ Midget Wolgast. Gold retired in 1934 with over 100 professional fights.
