Schneider, who turned professional as a lightweight in 1992, won his first fight by knocking out Cuitlahuac Rivera in the first-round of their bout on November 23. He then defeated Jose Ferrer and Victor Trinidad in four-round decisions in 1993. Inactive from 1994-1996, Schneider returned to the ring in 1997 and lost a 10-round decision to former WBC junior lightweight champion James Lejia. Effie fought until 1998 and retired with 8 wins in 13 career decisions.
