Born in New Jersey, Bogner made his professional boxing debut in 1980 at the age of 19. On May 22, he knocked out Robert Johnson in the second-round of a fight in Totowa, New Jersey. Kenny went undefeated in his next 12 fights, winning 11 with one draw -- five of his victories were knockouts in the first or second rounds.

In June 1981, the undefeated Bogner fought another young unbeaten lightweight, Livingstone Bramble. In a bout in Atlantic City, Bramble -- a future WBA world lightweight champion -- defeated Bogner on a seventh-round technical knockout. Kenny recovered from the loss and won his next 11 bouts. One of those victories was a June 1982 fight against Kato Wilson. The ten-round decision was named ESPN Fight of the Year.

Bogner retired from the ring in 1984 with a record of 22 wins, one loss, and one draw. Three years later, though, he attempted a comeback, and fought Remo DiCarlo in Atlantic City. Kenny lost on a six-round TKO. Bogner fought three more times in his career -- once in 1989 and twice in 1993 -- and won all three bouts.
