Young Sammy, the younger brother of Sammy Smith, was a lightweight in the late 1900s and early 1910s.

Career Highlights:
Born in Philadelphia, Smith began his professional career in the late 1910s. A lightweight, he fought Bert Keyes in October 1909 in Saratoga, New York -- the bout ended in a ten-round no decision. In August 1910, Young Sammy then fought top lightweight contender Knockout Brown. The bout officially ended in a ten-round no decision, but Smith won the "newspaper decision." In February 1911, he fought one of the best Jewish boxers of the era, Leach Cross. Smith won a ten-round decision.
