During his career in the 1910s and 1920s, Brown fought some of the top boxers of his day, including Johnny Kilbane, Johnny Dundee, Sammy Mandell, and Jackie Fields.

Career Highlights:
At the beginning of his professional career, Brown was knocked out three times by Harry Wills in 1912 and 1913. In May 1920, Brown fought world featherweight champion Johnny Kilbane in a non-title fight which ended in a six-round no decision. Over the next seven years, Brown continued to fight top competition, but did not receive a title shot. He had bouts against Johnny Dundee (no decision), Sammy Mandell twice (a loss and a no decision), George "K.O." Chaney (Brown won by disqualification), Jackie Fields (a loss by decision), and Sid Terris (loss by decision).
