Career Highlights:
A powerful lightweight during the 1910s, Callahan registered a remarkable 20 of his 21 wins via knockout. His career began in 1911 and by 1915, he was fighting the best boxers around. That year, Callahan fought Hall of Famer Johnny Dundee three times in a two-month span (March - May); all three fights ended in no decisions. In the same month as his last bout with Dundee -- May 1915 -- Frankie also fought the immortal Benny Leonard, with the contest ending in a 10-round no decision. The two fighters met again in February 1917, with the rematch also a no decision.

Leonard won the lightweight title three months later; but though he made frequent title defenses, Callahan was not one of his opponents. Instead, Frankie continued to fight other contenders, facing future champ Rocky Kansas twice (both no decisions), Dundee three more times (2 losses and a no decision), and the great Lew Tendler five times (3 losses and 2 no decisions). Callahan fought until 1923 and retired with 21 wins, 8 losses and an astonishing 104 no decisions.
