Cooke, a lightweight, was knocked out by the great Joe Gans in the eighth round of their 1904 bout. In April of that same year, Jewey fought Dave Holly to a six-round no decison. Cooke began his career in the late 1890s, and defeated Andy Watson in a 20-round decision in 1898.
