Epstein, Solly

Epstein was a bantamweight in the 1920s.

Birth and Death Dates:
b. May 28, 1899 - d. January 1970

Career Highlights:
Epstein never received a title shot, but he did face future world bantamweight champ Charles "Bud" Taylor twice. In 1921, Taylor knocked out Solly in the ninth round. The following year, Taylor knocked out Epstein in the first round in a bout held in Taylor's hometown of Terre Haute, Indiana (Taylor was to become NBA world bantamweight champ five years later). During his career, Epstein also fought Willie Spencer to a draw in 1922, in a bout in Jersey City, New Jersey.
