Levitina, Irina Solomonovna

Levitina was restrained from playing in the 1979 Women's Interzonal in Buenos Aires and in Women's World Championship, because her brother emigrated (legally) to Israel. She is, by profession, a teacher.

Career Highlights:

Levitina was a three-time USSR Women's Champion: 1971, 1979-80.

She was made an Honored Master of the Sport in 1996. Levitina competed for Women's World Championship.

Playing on the USSR team, she was the winner of the Women's Olympiad in 1972 (scoring 5.5 out of 6), in 1974 (scoring 7.5 out of 9), and in 1984 (scoring 6.5 out of 11)

Levitina is particularly strong in a game of complex technique and intricate combinations.

In 1985, she was awarded with a medal for Excellence of Achievement.
