Carl Edward Etelman

Etelman was an all-around athlete while at Tufts, lettering in basketball, baseball, wrestling, and track, as well as football. After his college career was over, Carl played professionally in two leagues in the 1920s.

Career Highlights:
In 1921, Etelman was named New York Times All-East honorable mention while playing at Tufts. In 1926, he played in two professional leagues, the NFL and the AFL.
In 1926, Etelman played for the Boston Bulldogs (2-4-0) of the American Football League (AFL), the only season in the league's history. Initially started by Red Grange's agent to allow Grange to play in New York, the original AFL ran out of money because of low attendance (caused mostly by Grange's knee injury). Etelman's Boston team folded before the close of the season.
After playing for the Boston Bulldogs in the AFL, Etelman played in one game for the Providence Steam Roller in the NFL.

Career Dates:
Etelman played halfback at Tufts University from 1921-1924. In 1926, he played as a blocking back, tailback, and wingback in the American Football League with the Boston Bulldogs, and in the NFL with the Providence Steam Roller.
