Ginsburg played in the American Football League in 1936 with the Rochester Tigers. The Tigers finished the season with a record of 1-6-0. The league was started by Dr. Harry March, a former New York Giants team official, as a "player's league" to challenge the NFL. Unfortunately, due to poor attendance and finances, the league folded after only two years. One of Izzy's Rochester teammates was Harry Shaub.

Ginsburg played end at South Dakota State University from 1933-1934. He then played as an end in the AFL with the Rochester Tigers in 1936.
