Charles Furchgott

Furchgott played as a guard at Georgia, and was the brother of Maurice Furchgott who played for Georgia Tech. In 1944, the two schools (and brothers) faced each other with Maurice and Tech defeating Charlie and the Bulldogs, 44-0.

Career Highlights:
In 1944, the Bulldogs had a record of 7-3-0. The following year, they won their first four games of the year before losing in consecutive weeks to LSU and Alabama. The Bulldogs then rebounded to win their final four games of the year by a combined score of 135-7! In that run, Georgia shut out Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech. In the Oil Bowl, they defeated No. 17 Tulsa, 20-6 ,to finish the season with a record of 9-2-0 and ranked No. 18 in the nation.
